With all of the required permits from the DEP and the Army Corp of Engineers in place…….we proceeded with our very special Wetlands Reclamation Project here at Camp Victory! The hydraulic dredge…..that traveled here all the way from Wisconsin….finished removing the sediment from our recreation pond yesterday. It sucked up the sediment and transported it via large tubes into special bags that are specially made for this type of project. The tubes are strategically located in the middle pond and will eventually return that area to its former wetlands. Wetlands plantings in this newly reclaimed area will take place in the spring of 2016. A universally accessible boardwalk will be the last part of this amazing project. This will allow our campers to visit the wetlands and observe this habitat up close! And, with the sediment removed from the recreation pond, our campers will be able to once again enjoy great fishing and boating!
